What is a Long Eye-Relief Scope

Unlike a conventional riflescope, a long eye relief scope like the PAO Topaz 2-7×32 Pistol Scope is viewed at approximately ‘arm’s length’. Therefore, it suits handguns. The eye relief of this PAO Topaz is between 13 and 16 inches (330 and 406mm).

Note: There are certain rifles (like bullpups), where the scope mounts too far forward for a conventional riflescope. In such case, a long eye-relief scope is needed.

Magnification Range (zoom)

What sets the PAO Topaz 2-7×32 Pistol Scope apart from other handgun optics is its magnification range, or ‘zoom’ capability. It will magnify the target from 2x all the way to 7x. The variable magnification is stepless, so you can choose any power between 2x and 7x. Effectively, this makes your target appear much closer – up to seven times in fact! So a 28 yard target will ‘seem’ as close as just four yards.

To ensure the sight picture remains bright at the highest magnification levels, the PAO Topaz 2-7×32 Pistol Scope has a 32mm diameter objective lens. This will gather a lot of light, so you will be able to pick out your target even against dark backgrounds.

Fitting the scope to a pistol

The PAO Topaz 2-7×32 Pistol Scope comes with mounts. These have clamps to fit guns with the standard 11mm (3/8”) dovetails.

If you wish to fit the scope to a pistol with a wider Picatinny or Weaver receiver, you will need these mounts.

The body tube of the PAO Topaz 2-7×32 Pistol Scope is the standardised 25mm (1 inch).

Crosshair

The reticle fitted to the PAO Topaz 2-7×32 Pistol Scope is the thick-to-thin ‘Duplex’ style crosshair (see illustration). It is located in the second focal plane.
